Taking care of the bathroom in your home is always a good idea. You should keep things as clean and fresh as possible. Part of maintaining a clean washroom is maintaining your shower. Today, Mobile Home Outfitters is here with six tips for keeping your mobile home shower in good shape.
Clean Regularly
The easiest way to maintain a shower is by keeping it clean. You can use many store-bought cleaners, or you may use a solution of warm water and vinegar. Spray your shower with your cleaning product of choice. Let the cleaner sit, and then scrub the shower clean. Finally, rinse and wipe it all down; your shower should look pristine!
Remove Yellowing
Yellow stains are common side effects of an unclean shower. Removing this discoloration is like cleaning your shower but may require a stronger cleaner and multiple scrubbings. Hydrogen peroxide or vinegar are common household products for eliminating yellow stains in your mobile home shower.
Repair Cracks
After so many uses, you may eventually notice a crack on the floor of your shower stall. One tip for keeping your mobile home shower in good shape is fixing these cracks as soon as possible so they don't have a chance to spread out and worsen. You can repair these cracks with a simple kit from your local hardware store.
First, clean around the crack and mix the epoxy and hardener in the kit. Apply it along the crack and try to fill it in before smoothing it out with a putty knife. After it dries, sand it with sandpaper and add that classic sheen with wax.
Seal Edges
One of the largest hazards to come from your shower is the water. Once a year or so, we suggest caulking any edges or seals in your shower stall. If water enters these seals, it may get into your walls which can cause mold, mildew, and other unfortunate problems.
Add Water Softener
Hard water is full of calcium, and that mineral often cakes itself onto shower walls, faucet handles, and other surfaces as a chalky white substance. Installing a water softener reduces the amount of calcium and other minerals in the water, which not only feels better on your skin and hair but also reduces potential damage to your shower.
Clear the Plumbing
Over time, your shower drain may fill up with soap, scum, and loose hair. Clogged drains will back up, pool, and leave germs and bacteria on your shower floor, which you won't want to stand in. It's a good idea to get some drain cleaner and flush out your pipes at least once yearly.
